Elizabeth & Terence Teo
Let’s start at the beginning – how did you two meet!
Terence and I work in Banking and Finance. The first time we met was at a work meeting – I was working for his client. It was a rainy day and we were the first two to show up at the meeting location. I recall he had a bright smile and positive energy which drew my attention. He thought I was attractive and very nice; that led him to follow up after our meeting.
What was the proposal like?
We were in Hong Kong to visit his daughter – Natalie. Prior to picking her up, we decided to make an early morning visit to The Peak. We were in the middle of our walk through the grounds when he turned, got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. It was simple and private – a reflection of our personalities.
What was your original idea for the wedding in terms of themes, style and colour ideas? What was your concept for the flowers on the day?
This is our second marriage and we had our respective big and grand weddings the first time round. We wanted to keep this wedding personal and relaxed. Our favorite season is Autumn – we love the warm colors and light during that period. Autumn was our inspiration. We chose to have a lunch wedding at Artemis because of the floor to ceiling glass windows, which allowed natural light to flood the room. We chose a simple arrangement of yellow orchids for the table flowers.
How did you decide on the menu / dishes?
Many of our guests are close friends and family who love their food, wine and cocktails. We selected the menu and drinks with them in mind.
What did you both do on the morning of your special day?
This was a lunch wedding so we were busy getting ready! My day started at 6.30AM with makeup and styling. We held the tea ceremony with our families prior to the wedding solemnization.
Did you have groomsmen / bridesmaids? What was your style for their attire?
We did not have groomsmen and bridesmaids. We made relaxed linen jackets and chinos for my sons – Christopher and Timothy which complemented Terence’s navy wedding suit.
Any advice for future bride & grooms – pearls of wisdom now having completed your own wedding day?
Let your wedding be a reflection of who you both are. Plan and make decisions together from the start to finish; bearing in mind this is only one event in a string of events in your lifetime as a couple. There will be moments of stress and it will not be perfect. But be determined to laugh through it and have fun!
